“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."
- The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
As we celebrate MLK today, January 20, 2025, let us continue his legacy throughout this year. It takes courage to fight for community, when we are told to only look out for ourselves. Let us FIGHT for the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the unhoused, the fearful, and those seeking refuge.
The following list is just a small picture of how we can continue to learn from and advocate for others this year. I encourage you to also do your own work and find what fits you and/or your family the best.

Attend school board meetings. Run for school board positions. Advocate for students in your community to get equal access to mental health services, accomodations, nutritious food, and Individualized Education Plans.
I end this with the following statement: You cannot be an ethical mental health professional, without advocating for social justice. Mental Health professional or not, let us work together to fight for and demand action, to protect and love those around us.
“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed” - The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.
